Another article! Mid-Day Bangalore

Four friends and the mad bike ride!!;)

What's in a name..?

Why the name The Orange Bicycle?
It is a Long and winding story.
Essentially we wanted a name that didn’t reveal the nature of the store at one go but at the same could reflect the personality of the store that is – colorful, creative and quirky!
It makes you wonder what the store is all about. It catches your attention. Once of course you take a look at the logo, you know it’s a store for the free spirited woman who wants to have the shopping ride of her life.
What is the Long story?
While we were busy finding a name and going through endless lists of probable names that fit in, we settled on this name because of the above reasons. Somewhere the name also found a place in our heart for the simple things it reflects.
The orange as a fruit reminds us of our childhood winter afternoons. The various slices of the fruit itself seem like the various roles of our lives. As women, we all play varied roles of a daughter, a friend, a lover, a wife, a mother and more. Even though the sum of all these slices makes us what we are, we somewhere forget the whole – the self-amidst the stressful lives we all lead.
So the bicycle ride is the journey we four women have undertaken to re-discover ourselves. It also depicts the freedom that we associate with riding a bicycle, and the balancing act of juggling so many roles that makes us who we are.
Who is the Orange Bicycle?
The orange bicycle was invented by four riders who come from varied backgrounds from across the country. Two of us come from the world of communication and marketing, one of us is a qualified fashion professional from NIFT and one of us is a Chartered Accountant.
Essentially we all came together because we had the same passion of telling a meaningful story - a story that is built on the platform of ideas, creativity and of talent.
Come and take a ride with us!

“From small beginnings come great things.”

We opened shop and made our 1st sale on 13th November!  Everyone is super excited and have been biting nails for the sometime now!! :)

The idea of TOB is to bring together under one roof many stories – stories of creativity, passion, talent, ideas, color, tradition, art and more. We have essentially built a platform where we can showcase all these stories of various passionate and talented designers and offer them to the people of Bangalore.

We did dabble quite a bit into creating our own product range and frankly that’s still part of our plan. But it takes a huge effort to set up a business from scratch without any prior experience within a short span of 6 months. So we currently put the product development in the back burner so that we could set up the store. Once we have settled in, we will hopefully be able to focus on our exciting and creative product range.

The strength lies in our products and in our vision. We have with us in our store over 70 different brands from different parts of the country - Seventy different designers who put their blind faith and believed in us without batting an eyelid. We approached them with a strong concept idea and convinced them that we had a story to tell. However all this was just in paper and in our minds. Today we are extremely thankful to all of them who decided to trust us with their products, their ideas and we hope we have been able to do justice to their imagination. Their products make our vision come true and that’s what makes the orange bicycle unique. We hope that each of these relationships can continue much beyond just the economies of the business.

So now we are on the ride of our lives!

We had our 1st media coverage also a few days back...feels great to see our thoughts take shape, become a reality and be appreciated somewhere!

It’s more than a store…it’s a ride!

The Orange Bicycle is a space where we bring together a story – a story of the beautiful, the desirable, the fun, the boho, and the chic, the sophisticated and at the same time quirky under one roof. A space that will showcase a variety of things, a plethora of ideas and loads of creativity in an ambience that will allow you to experience each of these elements in the way you want to. We will offer an eclectic mix of products including garments, jewelry, accessories, bags, shoes, art, pottery, home linen, home décor items and much more. The list is endless with a great find to be discovered at every step.
A journey of 4 young women looking for a fresh new ride of life...and this is our story...

You can find a mix of styles here - both the contemporary and Kitsch – trendy, fashionable, vibrant, and at the same time comes with a twist.

This is a store for the woman who is comfortable in her own skin. Someone who is always looking for a fresh idea and embraces the same in her life!

The Orange Bicycle is a space owned by four friends – The key operating partner Gunjan Khaitan is the one who sowed the seed of this idea. She comes from a business family and armed with a communication degree from MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad) and a 9 year stint in advertising, media, and marketing, is loaded with a passion to succeed and is always brimming with ideas. She is accompanied by Leena Raizada, who is an alumnus of NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), and comes with immense knowledge and experience in design, product development and merchandising. She is the one with the industry expertise and the required skillset.
The other two partners wish to remain anonymous at this stage.
